Tree Pruning & Tree Reduction

Not every tree needs cutting hard.
Often it’s about knowing what to remove – and what to leave.

We carry out careful tree pruning across Warrington and Cheshire, with a focus on structure, light and long-term balance.

This client wanted to improve light levels around the house and garden while keeping the tree looking natural and well balanced.

Through careful lifting, selective thinning and reduction away from the nearby telephone wires, we were able to retain the height and overall structure of the tree whilst creating a lighter, more open feel throughout the property.

Where careful pruning matters most

Much of our pruning work takes place where space is limited and precision matters.

  • Trees close to houses, roofs and glass
  • Overhanging neighbouring gardens
  • Limited drop zones and restricted access
  • Trees affecting light into main living spaces

These aren’t straightforward jobs. They require planning, control, and judgement – not just cutting.

This client wanted to improve light levels around the property while keeping the trees in scale with the surrounding landscape and neighbouring woodland.

Through careful crown reduction and selective thinning, we were able to create a lighter, more open feel around the house whilst retaining the natural shape, screening and overall character of the trees.

What we don’t do

We’re often asked to correct poor pruning. Done badly, reduction work can permanently affect a tree’s structure. We understand the added complexity this brings. Depending on how badly the previous work was done, we can be surprisingly effective at rectifying this.

We don’t carry out:

  • Aggressive topping or over-reduction
  • Unnecessary removal of healthy structure
  • Quick, heavy cuts that compromise long-term growth

Careful tree work means thinking beyond the day – and leaving the tree in a better position for years to come.
